A Missing Person is anyone who is reported missing to police, whose whereabouts are unknown, and where there are fears for the safety or concerns for the welfare of that person.


Approximately 165 people are reported missing to Tasmania Police* every year and there are currently under 500 long-term missing persons. Rewards posted by Tasmania police and government have only been offered for 1 case.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF DISAPPEARANCE
Stephen George ACKROYD DOB: 11/01/1954
A 51 year old male pensioner last seen leaving his Claremont unit in Hobart at about 9pm on 26 January (Australia Day) 2005. He left his dog behind at his unit along with all his personal belongings.

Eve ASKEW
DOB: 1977
A 14 year old girl who went missing from her family's residence in Fitzgerald during the night of 16 November 1991. Eve had been grounded by her parents for smoking at the time and she left a note of her intention to leave home. Her family had moved to Tasmania from New South Wales in January 1989.
Trevor Wayne BAILEY DOB: 02/03/1967
A 26 year old Rocherlea male last seen at Launceston airport on 16 January 1993. Information suggests that Trevor travelled to Nerang in Queensland after leaving Tasmania, and that he may have returned to Kununarra in Western Australia in 1996, three years after being reported missing. He may have assumed another identity.

DOB: September 1962

A 43 year old man last seen in Launceston early 2005 after leaving lgh hospital from ward 1e without treatment. If Peter is on the street he stays on the outskirts and only comes in for centrelink or mail and food but he could be anywhere.

Peter John GILL DOB: 1969
A 37 year old man who was last seen at New Town on 27 August 2006.
DOB: 05/02/1967
A 26 year old female German tourist who was last sighted between St Helens and Bicheno on Tasmania's east coast on 12 March 1993. At the time of her sighting she was riding a red Road Chief Maurauder mens mountain bike with red panniers heading south on the Tasman highway approximately 5 kms south from Scamander. Nancy was in regular contact with her parents in Lubeck, and had phoned them the day prior to her disappearance at 4 pm on the 11 March 1993. The hired bicycle has never been located.

DOB: 1955
A 48 year old South Hobart male and landscape gardener who last made contact by phone on 1 November 2004. Paul was a well-travelled and keen bush walker and may have gone for a walk in the South Hobart/Knocklofty area. His unit has remained undisturbed.
Lester LEE DOB: 28/08/1963
A 42 year old Devonport male last seen heading off to a work Christmas function after being dropped off by a friend at Torquay Road around 8 pm on Sunday 19 December 2004. He did not arrive at the party where he was expected to receive Christmas presents for his children. Grave fears are held for Lester's welfare.

Jason John MAZUREK
DOB: 05/12/1981
A 21 year old Bushy Park man last seen in the foyer of Wrest Point Casino in Hobart about 1.30 am on 15 September 2002. He had travelled to the casino with his sister and had been asked to wait in the foyer but could not be located when she returned 10 minutes later. John was a family oriented person who normally resided with his mother in Bushy Park but at the time of his disappearance had been staying with his sister at Glenorchy. No trace has been found of Jason despite extensive police searches.
 
Plea: Jason is my younger brother, and we miss him terribly. He has missed out on so much and as my only brother of 6 children, his disapearance is still after all this time extremely upsetting for us as a family. Someone knows something and we are pleading with them to come forward no matter how small they think it is, we need closure, PLEASE HELP US FIND OUR SON, BROTHER, UNCLE,NEPHEW & FRIEND

Shar Marie MULLER

DOB: 1971
A 25 year old woman who
disappeared from the Royal Hobart Hospital at 1.30 am on 4 January 1996. She had initially been taken to the hospital several hours earlier by police after she was found wandering on the Tasman Bridge.

Jason Michael OAKLEY
DOB: 1970
A 37 year old man who left his Middleton residence on 9 May 2007. Jason's vehicle is also missing.

Dennis James O’DAY

DOB: 1961
A 21 year old man who last last contacted his parents by phone about 8.30pm on Saturday 23 August 1980. His yellow mini with a black vinyl roof was later found near Hobart Botanical Gardens.

DOB: 10/02/1935
A 40 year old mother of 3 who was last seen at her home in George Town on 22 August 1975. At the time of her disappearace it was discovered she did not take either her coat or purse. Margaret spoke with a British accent and had migrated from the UK in 1967.

David John SUSHAMES
DOB: 1961
A 44 year old Devonport man who was last seen late morning on Tuesday 1 November (Melbourne Cup Day) 2005 at Morris Avenue Devonport and Tarleton Street East Devonport.

Craig Ewen TAYLOR

DOB: 1983
A 10 year old East Launceston boy who was last seen mid-morning by his mother on the 3 September 1993. At the time of his disappearance, Craig was on holidays with his mother, father and two older sisters in Conningham, South Tasmania and had been staying at his grandparent's holiday shack.

Allan Francis THOMAS

DOB: 1938
A 58 year old man who has been missing since September 1996.
